How To Create A Landing Page That Candidates Love

March 31, 2022

This is a subtitle for your new post

At Construction-Recruitment, we do a lot of employer research. We love engagements, but we are clear on working with ethical and like-minded people who share our mission of making the world a better place. It simply makes recruitment more enjoyable and engaging for all concerned.

In 2022, it is clear that employees have new priorities, companies have new focus and processes, and cultures have evolved. But one thing hasn’t changed: the need for talent to discover and engage with your brand. For those over 40, we probably started out looking for a job, whereas candidates today are looking for a purpose.

What we find sometimes, is it’s a bit difficult to get a ‘feel’ for the company beyond their client focus, and that the value proposition for employees and prospective candidates may need some work. In our experience the employers that attract high calibre candidates have a clear employee value proposition that is highly visible.

Candidates will check you out to learn about your business after hearing about job opportunities. If you haven’t refreshed yours in a while, it’s time. Candidates and employees want to know how you’re handling the new reality of work, and new features are available to help you better engage them.

Here are our suggestions on items to including in a landing page on your website. Remember also to include this in your company page on LinkedIn, as this is a natural hub for professionals (59% will check your LinkedIn company page also). Short paragraphs and sentences are best. If you can inject a friendly tone or some personality, even better:-

1.      About Section

This is different from your overall company ‘About’ section which is traditionally focused towards your clients, prospective clients and your achievements. On an employee landing page or company page on LinkedIn, this is focused on how you engage, communicate and support your employees.

2.      Your Goals or Mission

Depending on your goals, you may want to summarize what your company does, your mission, or the type of talent you’re looking for to appeal to like-minded, mission-driven candidates. When employees feel that their purpose is aligned with the organisations purpose, the benefits include stronger employee engagement, more loyalty and a great willingness to recommend the company to others.

3.      Your Culture

Your company’s culture is its personality and it influences decisions about who you hire, and influences those looking to work with you. Think of it this way – if your company were meeting someone for the first time, what impression would it give and what would be the main things to talk about? You want to demonstrate you are a lively company with real people behind it. Describe the work environment, leadership style, management style and how you work with and support your employees.

4.      Your Values

Values and ethics of course come into play when directing and assessing the conduct, policies and the tangible results in your monthly balance sheet. If values and ethics set your destination, when you include employee focused values, this also sets who you will take the journey with and help you to get to that destination. People do their best when they feel like they’re a part of a company with strong values.

What do you believe in? What are the values and ethics that are dominant in your company? Defining and expressing those values is key. State your values along with explanations, so your employees and candidates can see if you are a good fit and can thrive in your environment. Be sure you come up with terms that are specific to your company and try not to use common words. Personality in values is important as well.

5.      How You Communicate With Your Employees

We live in a disruptive era where organisations are frequently evolving. Many people long for the social connections that provided meaning and without those relationships, there’s often not much holding them back from jumping ship. Companies that communicate to their employees that their work matters enjoy more loyal and engaged employees. Spend some time in sharing how you keep in touch, involve and communicate recognition and celebrations.
